Universal Lift-Off at Slane

While watching and listening to Live at Slane Castle  (august 23rd 2003) I have this strange inkling that this might be the moment that the Red Hot Chili Peppers were 'there'.
And this 'there' is that place in the history of music where the artist becomes indelible.
A magical place...

The whole concert is more than great, and and they were extremely famous by then - Slane Castle, 80.000 tickets sold under 2,5 hours - but what struck me just now, was the exact moment where 'it' happens, where they reach their status of immortality...when the intro of 'Universally Speaking' starts,  about 17 minutes in...

De first 17 minutes are going great, 'though Anthony messes up the second verse of 'Scar Tissue', which was replaced in the edit by the voice (only the voice) of another concert.
They play a kickass version of 'Around the World' and then John sings 'Maybe' (of the Chantels) ..beautifully...

In reality though, Frusciante makes a mistake, stops abruptly and only continues after about 15 seconds.
But he finishes it really well, and after that, or because of that, Flea then screams: "Ladies and gentleman, JOHN FRUSHONTAAAY!!! "
Chad joins in with a roll, and at that moment the energy shoots up and creates thát moment...the moment where the whole situation transcends...
There  is this mega-contact between the four of them, and that energy makes the jump-off into 'Universally Speaking'
simply delightful!!

So...there's that.

Grateful for the Red Hot Chili Peppers
